10% average energy savings achieved, saving £5,683 per year, with payback under 2 years.
The Horse and Groom is a family run pub occupying a characterful 500-year building situated within Hare Hatch, Twyford. GWE were approached to assess the viability of implementing voltage optimisation to reduce the hotel’s energy consumption, and therefore costs.
Analyzing electricity bills and carrying out a survey established the hotels peak energy consumption and Maximum Demand. This highlighted that the electricity supply was far greater than required. Fitting an optimiser to meet the hotels requirements, rather than match the size of the incoming supply made great sense. This approach reduced the capital cost of the equipment, gave a higher return on investment, and resulted in a payback of under two years.
“We had a voltage optimiser fitted to reduce our energy costs, and it’s done just that …saving nearly £6,000 a year! They provided a hassle-free service and I have no hesitation in recommending them”

The graph shows the pubs daily energy consumption for 1st Feb – 23rd May, 2015 and 2016.In 2016 with voltage optimisation installed consumption is clearly lower than the previous year. This is despite degree day data for the area showing it was considerably colder in 2016. Comparing the two periods, the pubs energy consumption reduced by 13,970 kWh’s equating to a saving of £1,790 over these 3 months alone!
